Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to the questions we hear most

Orders

7
  • How does Ulupa work?

We help you find vetted home chefs cooking dishes to order. Pick a chef and a menu you like, then order home-cooked food for lunch or dinner. You can leave a note with your order or chat with the chef so the meal is prepared exactly to your taste — and track the order status right on the site.

  • Can I customise a dish to my preferences?

Of course — most chefs are happy to cook to your preferences and adjust the ingredients on request. Before placing the order, let the chef know which ingredients you'd like to remove or swap, and add a note to the order with your preferences.

  • How far in advance should I order?

Every cook works on their own schedule. When ordering you pick an available date from the cook's calendar — that way the cook has time to prepare your dish fresh, just for you.

  • How do I contact the cook?

After you place an order you can message the cook in the in-app chat — clarify details, share your preferences or follow along as your dish is being made.

  • Do I need an account to order?

Yes, you need an account to place an order — it keeps your orders, addresses and chat with the cook in one place. Registration is free and quick.

  • Is there a minimum order?

Dishes are made in large ulupa portions — from 0.5 kg, so an order starts from a single ulupa. Individual cooks' terms may vary.

  • Can I cancel or change an order?

You can cancel an order before the cook confirms it. After confirmation, message the cook in the chat for any changes. If a paid order is cancelled, the refund follows our rules.

Payment & delivery

5
  • How much does delivery cost?

Delivery cost depends on the distance between the chef and the customer. The exact price per portion is calculated automatically at checkout.

  • How do I request a refund if there's a problem with my order?

If something goes wrong with delivery or you're not happy with the quality of the home-cooked dishes, contact our support team via the site. We review requests quickly and issue refunds without unnecessary friction — we tend to lean towards the customer when resolving disputes.

  • How do I pay for an order?

Payment is online by card — via TBC or Bank of Georgia (BOG). Every transaction is secure; we don't handle cash payments.

  • Pick-up or delivery?

Both are available. You can collect the dish from the cook yourself or choose courier delivery. The delivery price depends on the distance and is calculated automatically at checkout.

  • Is online payment secure?

Yes. Payments are processed through the secure systems of Georgian banks (TBC, Bank of Georgia). We do not store full card details on our servers.

Quality & cooks

3
  • How is the quality of dishes on ulupa.ge guaranteed?

Only carefully vetted chefs cook on Ulupa, so we can stand behind the quality. Before a chef starts working with us we meet in person, taste their dishes, photograph their kitchen and check their food handler certificate. To keep the bar high on home-cooked delivery, we also continuously collect and review feedback from customers who have already ordered through the platform.

  • How do I become a chef on ulupa.ge?

If cooking at home is your calling and you'd like to become a chef on our platform, fill out the online application. A manager will call you back to walk through the interview, the skills check and the tasting in detail.

  • What portion sizes are the dishes made in?

Dishes are made in large 'ulupa' portions — from 0.5 kg. One portion is roughly 250 grams, so it's easy to work out how many portions you need.
